Assessment, FISA & Recognition of Prior Learning

Completed your learning with Tonex or another accredited provider? Book your practical assessment and final integrated summative assessment (FISA) — online under live invigilation, or in person.

Practical assessment

You produce evidence that you can perform the tasks the programme covers, in or against a real workplace. When you register you receive a portfolio guide and an evidence checklist, and you submit your Portfolio of Evidence on the portal.

Final integrated summative assessment (FISA)

A supervised assessment covering the full range of programme outcomes, written under examination conditions with an appointed invigilator. Online delivery does not make it open-book: the supervision is the same as in a venue — only the location changes.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

If you already have the skills through work or other study, RPL lets you be assessed for access to a programme or for credit, in line with the QCTO RPL policy. Apply before the programme starts.

Writing your FISA online

What you need

  • A computer with a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari — and, where your assessment requires it, Safe Exam Browser (free; the portal shows you the right download for your device)
  • A stable internet connection
  • A camera and microphone — your phone can be used for the invigilation call
  • A quiet room where you can sit alone for the full session
  • Your identity document, already uploaded and verified on the portal

On the day

  1. Join the invigilation call a few minutes early, with your camera on
  2. In the portal, open Final assessments and press “I’m on the call — admit me”
  3. The invigilator checks your ID and workspace on camera and admits you — only then does the Start button appear
  4. The assessment opens in secure mode: full screen, copy and paste switched off, and every exit recorded for the invigilator
  5. Stay on camera until you have submitted

Before you book

Requirements, results and appeals

Before you book

You must meet the programme’s entry requirements and have been declared competent in all modules. If you studied with another accredited provider, submit your Statement of Results when you register. Your enrolment is uploaded to the QCTO as required.

Results

Results are released once internal moderation is complete. Final results and the moderation report are submitted to the QCTO, and certification follows QCTO approval.

Appeals & re-assessment

You may appeal an assessment decision in writing to the Tonex Quality Assurance Officer within ten working days. An assessor who was not involved reviews your evidence and you receive an outcome within fifteen working days. Re-assessment terms and fees are set out at registration.

Tell us what you need. We’ll build the programme around it.
