The assessment component of our QCTO skills programmes is purchased separately from the learning. It is for learners who have completed the required knowledge, practical, and workplace modules with Tonex or with another accredited provider and who now need to be assessed in order to be certified.
Assessment has two parts.
The practical assessment requires you to produce evidence that you can perform the tasks the programme covers in or against a real workplace. What that evidence consists of is set out in the Assessment Specifications for each skills programme; you receive a portfolio guide and evidence checklist when you register.
The FISA is a final integrated supervised assessment. It is conducted under examination conditions with an appointed invigilator, assessor, or moderator present, and it covers the full range of outcomes for the programme. It is written online, through our approved eAssessment platform, under live invigilation. Your identity is verified before the session starts, the session is supervised throughout, and you will be told in advance what you may have with you and what your workspace must look like. You will need a stable internet connection, a working camera and microphone, and a quiet room in which you can sit alone for the full duration.
Online delivery does not make the FISA an open-book or unsupervised assessment. The supervision requirement is the same as it would be in a venue; only the location changes.
Before you book
You must meet the entry requirements for the programme concerned and have been declared competent in all modules. You present your Statement of Results and your identity document at the assessment. If you completed your learning with another provider, submit your Statement of Results from that accredited provider when you register. Recognition of Prior Learning is available in accordance with the QCTO RPL Policy.
Your enrolment is uploaded to the QCTO within five days of registration, as required.
Results, appeals and reassessment
Results are released once internal moderation is complete and the QCTO has approved them. Final results and the moderation report are submitted to the QCTO within 21 working days of the assessment, and certification follows QCTO approval.
You may appeal an assessment decision in writing to the Tonex Quality Assurance Officer within ten working days. An assessor not involved in the original decision reviews the evidence, and the outcome is given within fifteen working days. Appealing costs nothing and carries no prejudice. If an appeal cannot be resolved to the satisfaction of all parties, it is referred to the QCTO, whose decision is final.
Re-assessment is available; terms and fees are set out at registration.
Fees and assessment dates are confirmed on booking.
